yes! you can do what you love & make money at it!

Could you be trapped in a golden closet?  For years, I tried to fit into the mold of leadership positions in workplaces that didn't fit my values. Some of these positions involved fancy titles (including "President"), high salaries and bonuses, leading hundreds of people and/or enjoying a corner office with lots of windows.

Still, I felt like I was suffocating in a golden closet, both spiritually and emotionally.  I needed, and still need, to follow my heart.  For example, I always did everything in my power to make sure my workplace followed the Health and Safety codes, to prevent worker injury (in many cases, workers had already been injured from poor ergonomics when they hired me).  I insisted that we buy safe chairs for people working on the computer all day, to prevent carpal tunnel and repetitive strain injuries that can last a lifetime.  For me, it's not enough to just tell my staff,

"I've got your back."  I need to SHOW it to them.  I need to do the right thing.  When my ethics clashed with my work, I followed my heart and did the right thing.  That didn't always go over well.  

Not only that, but people were often shocked when they found out that I date women.  Yes, this long-haired, lipstick-wearing woman is lesbian! Now, I explain to women that I'm only attracted to other lesbians, and that lesbians can be a straight woman's best friend.  After all, I will never hit on their man.  If they are single and looking, I can connect them with some of the many men who hit on me.  Everyone wins.  If they are straight men, we both think women are awesome.  If they are LGBT men, we are both LGBT.  Everyone wins!  Not everyone agreed with me.  We have a Human Rights Code in Canada that is supposed to protect lesbians from discrimination, but not everyone follows it.  If they don't follow it, I'm not interested in working there.   

Yes, I follow my heart.  When workplaces didn't work out, I went back to self-employment. 

Even in my business, I felt pressure to act like the "motivational corporate leader" that I thought my motivational speaker clients wanted me to be.  That was suffocating, too.  Where was my spirituality?  

Leading meditations is one of my favourite things to do.  For years, I held off on leading them, even in most of my private seminars, for fear that it would make clients uncomfortable.  Finally, I started leading guided meditations as part of my master classes online, and gearing the classes to spiritual people.  People raved about them!  Many said they got over $1,000,000 of value out of a single master class (you can see lots more quotes at the footer of this page)!
